About me

Personal info:
I am a Filipina, married and living here in Zamboanga City, Philippines. I work as an IT Instructor and on the side functions as a Networking Specialist (90% of the tasks are done online) for International Open Source Network. I also do online marketing and researching as a hobby.

Personal thought:
I’d like to think that I am a funny person, even only to myself =) I am passionate on most of the things that I do, but I am also trying to keep balance by learning how to put boundaries on at least every aspect of my life. I like technology and loves to integrate it in my daily tasks. Both my husband and I are into buying and selling of different stuff (my husband even created a free online classified ads portal for our City, http://wahoy.com, he sold it already and is now being maintained by its new owner) and loves to meet sensible and funny people. I sometimes find it funny how God teaches me different lessons in life which eventually gives me wisdom. Ohh and before I forget, I am proud to be a Filipino.

    Hi Sir Jay!

Bitaw.. dugay na ta wala mag meet.. gisakal este gikasal na diay si sir Macneil.. hehehe ikaw? kanunsa man ka mag minyu? It will be a nice experience going to CDO to visit you and some other friends. Ambot kung evangelize ba ang tawag sa akong work karon.. heheh.. there are lots of opportunities in open source but only those who have passion in it survive the challenges hehehe. So I guess I’m going to go there to look for those passionate people.

Hi yolynne , I am English married to Aida from San Antonio Zambales. It seems people drawn to Ubuntu are reformers with a heart, politics are never far away from peoples lives in the PI.
When I see little girls working as prostitutes I know the situation is brought about by selfish greedy politicians. You say you are proud to be a Filipino, proud of what? when people power eventually brings down the corrupt political structure and Filipinos can grow and develop as they deserve then we in the rest of the world will salute you. You can be truly proud.
Being married to a Filipino has enhanced my life and given me an extended family I truly love.
Hopefully Ubuntu people as you are doing will spread the word politically and open peoples minds to alternatives in there lives and to other operating systems.
Good luck, God bless you all,
    Clive

@Clive: I am living one day at a time, I am doing my part as a citizen of my country, and not losing hope that there is always peace and serenity after every chaos and trouble. You ask me why I am proud to be a Filipino? I love being who I am and my heritage especially of my beautiful country. If you’ve been only to Luzon, then I invite you to go to Visayas and Mindanao.. there’s a lot more to my country than the bad things being said about us and our people in foreign lands or in what you might be seeing in the media. Our corrupt officials are not the only ones representing our country nor the images of prostitute girls, we are not the only country who are suffering from those problem.. but I know we are the most vocal ones in telling the world our suffering, that’s how frank and upfront we are, we are not ashamed to tell our miseries.. each Filipino you see and deal with is an image of my country. Thank you also for sharing your concern for my fellowmen and my country. Mabuhay po kayo!

  12. Clive / Mar 1 2008 5:13 pm

Hi again, great to have a strong response. My comments were meant as encouragement to all of you out there. I do agree the PI is a wounder full country one of the most beautiful in the world. We all need to get out of our comfort zone and you have rightly challenged me to go out and see more. As a nature lover I want to see the delow biawak said to be in your area and the Tarsiers around Bohol. In our area we are buying 2.5 hectares by the bundock but near the sea, it has mature trees but most of my spare time with help I plant as much as I can such as Narra, Kalamanci, Buco, Saging etc the plan is to eventually have some Ousa & Baboy Ramo running free and protected from hunters. Hopefully the younger generation will understand the merits of conservation. I bought some little birds in the palenky and released them on the land and every time one little nephew visits he is always looking for the Ibon.
Please excuse my spelling tagalog is never going to be easy for me. Kind regards to you all from Clive in UK

Hi Yolynne, just visiting you too. You’ve got great posts. Keep it up and let’s keep telling the world that we are still proud to be Pinoys inspite of everything bad that’s happening to our country. Where else on this whole wide world can we call home except the Philippines kaya love ko pa rin ang Pinas whatever happens.

    Take care. πŸ™‚

  18. Cindy Trinidad / Aug 29 2008 2:35 pm

    Hi Yolynne,

Cindy Trinidad here, we used to chat re: Ubuntu.

Anyway, I have an urgent need for a native Chavacano speaker who is interested to do some home-based transcription work and translation. I thought of contacting you as I do not know of anyone else in Zamboanga. I have a US client who has some audio files that he needs transcribed immediately then eventually this will be translated to English. He told me that the files are few as of now but once they are happy with the work quality, they will send more work.

If you know anyone who is interested, kindly ask them to send me an email ASAP at cindytrinidad at yahoo dot com. Requirement is 1. Native Chavacano speaker 2. computer literate, preferable will access to DSL to download the audio files 3. Has some knowledge in playing MP3 files (to be able to listen to the audio) 4. Knows MS Word 5. VERY RELIABLE – as in will be able to deliver the job on time.

I am currently checking with the client as to the amount of payment but I’m sure it will be good for extra money for 1 or 2 hours of work each time.

Although the client as you know pays 30 to 60 days after, for someone reliable I am willing to send the payment from my own pocket as long as quality work is delivered.

Any assistance in helping find someone…please….

    Thanks!

    Hi Yolynne,

Hi there, let me introduce myself to you properly—-ako po ay isa ring Pilipina na nandito ngayon sa Estados Unidos. dati ring guro sa Kolehiyo sa kalakhang Maynila.

I have been searching over the net for FILIPINO BLOGGERS—sabi ko sa sarili ko—-bakit ako magbabayad ng dayuhan samantalang maraming magagaling na manunulat na PINOY. Don’t get me wrong here—-I don’t have a lot of money to spare—-I bust my ass (sorry for the word) to make a living as well.

But like you—-I have a “cause” and a dream close to my heart—- FORWARD THE CAUSE OF USING RENEWABLE ENERGY—-and somebody I would love to see houses in the Philippines utilizing OUR VERY OWN NATURAL RESOURCES TO POWER UP OUR HOMES—-AND BE FREE FROM PAYING HIGH COST OF ELECTRICITY—-ang mahal ng kuryente sa PINAS.

So, Why I am posting in your BLOG—-I NEED YOUR HELP—PLEASE INCLUDE MY WEBSITE IN YOUR BLOG. ALSO, IF YOU CAN WRITE AN ARTICLE FOR ME—-IF NOT YOU—AT LEAST IF YOU COULD RECOMMEND ONE.

Please email me — if you need more info.

    Maralaming Salamat Po! Mabuhay!

    P.S.

what’s new with Ubuntu? I am dual booting between UBUNTU AND WINDOWS—–

    JSJ
