The Invisible Pinoy Open Source Majority? – Answers to your Questions

I answered to this post and thought of sharing it here also.

“Where are the Pinoy Open Source developers?”,

They are everywhere sir, in what place do you need one? Luzon, Visayas or Mindanao? I do networking of Open Source Developers for IOSN ASEAN+3  and have started building a database. If you know of some who wants to be recognized also pls. do refer them to me, it’s my task to inter connect them. Thanks in advance.

but “How we can help the Pinoy Open Source community thrive?”

a lot of ways can be done, if you have the money like Winston Damarillo.. investing in a startup IT company where majority of your employees are open source devs is one.  If you are a developer, join in open source communities where trainings are sometimes sponsored.  Be helpful and train others as well.  If you wanna go abroad… try to give something back to the pinoy open source community by giving books and some donations like what Sacha Chua is doing. Blog about how proud you are of being a Pinoy Open Source Developer should be a good boost to the community. Encourage other kids to go open source. Volunteer in community based trainings. I’ve got a lot more ideas in mind.. others might also have some ideas.

yun lang po.. bow!

Thanks for the answer yolynne. Do you know of any websites that attempt to coordinate all pinoy open source initiatives, such as a forum?

@The Technographist The IOSN ASEAN+3 coordinates initiatives on the whole ASEAN+3 ( +3 means it includes the countries of Japan, S. Korea and China) region, so meaning, Philippines is just one and not the only main concern of the org. If you want/are planning to start one just say so, will tell my boss about it so that we can collaborate together. Better post your concern also to PLUG mailing list, they might have some info that we don’t know. Thanks
